Having the Dominican  nationality can be very convenient, especially when you as a foreigner decide to settle in another country, in the Dominican Republic you can naturalize or obtain Dominican citizenship by investment, in this blog we will give you all the details and requirements that you must meet for it.

There are 64 countries in total where Dominicans can enter without needing a visa, having dual nationality can be very favorable:

•  You don’t have to pay stay taxes when leaving the Dominican Republic.
•  You don’t have to carry out any migration process, such as renewing your residence, and above all you don’t have to make any payment.
•  You can enjoy the vast majority of the civil and military rights of a Dominican citizen.
• You can keep your nationality of origin, if that country admits it.
•  You do not have to pay for university studies as a foreigner.
• You can obtain a birth certificate and a Dominican identity card with which you can carry out all your daily and civil activities.
•  You can have a Dominican passport.
•  You can legally apply for any job.
•  All the paperwork can be done without leaving the Dominican Republic, with the benefit of costs, paperwork and time.

Investment citizenship process (it takes place in two stages)

1)  This process can last from 4 to 6 months, after the applicant makes the investment in the required manner (200,000 USD), and applies for the Residence Visa for Investment in the Dominican Consulate of the country of origin.

Assistance in this process includes assistance in the CEI-RD, in the General Directorate of Migration, and in the Central Electoral Board, payment of costs, writing of the required documents, filling out forms, repatriation policies and obtaining certifications.

It does not include procedures required outside the Dominican Republic, insurance policy, translations and apostille.

2) Naturalization: In order to opt for Naturalization in this way, it is necessary to have at least 6 months of Residence for Investment. This process can last from 12 to 18 months, depending on the dates and spaces available for swearing in.

Assistance in this process includes assistance in the CEI-RD, in the General Directorate of Migration, Ministry of Police, and in the Passport Directorate. Payment of costs, writing of the required documents, filling out forms, repatriation policies and obtaining certifications.

It does not include procedures required outside the Dominican Republic, insurance policy, translations and apostille. It also does not include the process of incorporating companies, buying real estate and vehicles, or obtaining bank accounts.

How long does it take?

Up to 2.5 years (from the date of investment), a personal presence is required. But after 6 months (+ \ – 2 months) – a residence will be obtained by which you can come to the Dominican Republic.
